Reverse Osmosis (RO) causes 74% water wastage* and demineralises water. For every litre of water that is purified through RO, 2 or or more litres of water is wasted. Aava is a certified natural mineral water under IS 13428 which bans the use of RO, UV, Ionization or any water rejection technologies. The World Health Organisation cautions against drinking demineralised RO water without the necessary calcium and magnesium. In 2019 the National Green Tribunal’s judgment endorsed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India considered RO to be detrimental to human health and the environment.

Food Safety Authority FSSAI has now made it mandatory for all packaged and RO purified water brands to re-add calcium and magnesium, necessary for good health and hydration.
